An 11-year-old boy was attacked by a tiger after he climbed
into a restricted area and tried to feed and pet the animal at the Cascavel zoo
in Brazil.
The boy's father allowed him to climb up the warning signs
and onto a security barrier. Witnesses say the child was giving tigers food and
meat and caressing them before being mutilated.
"I'm going to die, I can not feel my arm," shouted
the boy as his father and 3-year-old brother stared at him in horror.
The boy was raised again on the barrier by his father with
the help of a teacher who was also visiting the zoo. The paramedics treated the
child on the scene before taking him to a local hospital where attempts to
repair the injured limb were unsuccessful.
The child's father was charged with negligence and released
on bail.
